Ruth V. Mattson, 89, died March 10, 2006, at the Good Samaritan Center, Hutchinson.
She was born June 8, 1916, in Hutchinson, the daughter of Paul C. and Lillie Bell Chamberlain Buskirk. She graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1935. A longtime resident of the rural Andover Community in McPherson County, she was a homemaker.
She belonged to the Andover Lutheran Church, rural Windom, Democratic Women of McPherson County, Hayes Helping Hands-EHU, and WELCA of Andover Lutheran Church.
On Oct. 4, 1937, she married Arvid E. Mattson in Hutchinson. He died Sept. 1, 1989.
Survivors include: a son, John and wife Carol, Inman; three daughters, Virginia Walker, El Paso, Texas, and Helen Wilt and Rosie Turner and husband John, all of Hutchinson; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Paul, Charles and William Buskirk; and four sisters, Maude Burke, Meda Fraser, Mary Clore and Grace Buskirk.
Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Andover Lutheran Church, rural Windom, with Pastor Judith Wascher presiding. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday and Tuesday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in Andover Lutheran Church Cemetery.
Memorials may be sent to the Andover Lutheran Church or to the Good Samaritan Center, both in care of the funeral home.
