Ruth Maxine Murphy, 89, died Nov. 28, 2015. She was born June 30, 1926, in Langdon, the daughter of Chester and Viola (Pike) Applegate.
She was a 1944 graduate of Langdon High School and Adela Hale Business College, attended United Methodist Churches in Penalosa and Hutchinson, and was a member of the UMW of Penalosa. Ruth was a farm wife.
On Nov. 11, 1952, she married Donald Ray Murphy in Hutchinson. He died on May 24, 2013. She is survived by: her children and their spouses, Marcia Brown (Farrol) of Castleton, Steve (Joanne) of West Melbourne, Fla., Blaine (Becky) of Hutchinson, Dan (Lynette) of Wichita, and Kim Criswell (David) of Wilson; sister-in-law, Elaine Applegate of Hutchinson; 13 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Donald and Glenn Applegate, and Lois McKibben.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 5, 2015, at Elliott Chapel, with Pastor Jeanine I. Rishel presiding. Burial will follow in Lerado Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday and Friday at Elliott Mortuary, with the family to receive friends from 10 a.m. until service time on Saturday.
