Ruth Leona Sanders, 90, died May 29, 2006, at Hester Care Center, Hutchinson.
She was born July 17, 1915, in Miller; the daughter of Clarence W. and Grace E. Gardner Sanders. She graduated in 1934 from Miller High School and received her undergraduate and Masters in Library Science from Emporia State University in 1940. A Hutchinson resident since 1941, she was a librarian at Hutchinson Public Library from 1941 to 1980. During that time she also served as a consultant and bookmobile attendant with the Kansas State Library System.
She belonged to Grace Episcopal Church. After retiring she was a volunteer in charge of the Space Museum Gift Shop at the Kansas Cosmosphere and Space Center; and while living at Wesley Towers for 18 years, she was in charge of the library as a volunteer.
Survivors include: a brother, Donald and his wife Barbara, Fairfield, CA; and three nephews, Philip Sanders, Orleans, CA and Richard and David Sanders, both of Seiad Valley, CA.
Graveside service will be at 4 p.m. Sunday, July 9, 2006 in Rapp Cemetery, Osage City.
