Ruth Ann Stucky, 88, died June 21, 2008, at Thorne Care Center.
She was born June 27, 1919, at the family home near Murdock, Kan., the daughter of Peter H. and Mary Krehbiel Stucky. She graduated from Belmont High School. She had lived in Murdock until moving to Hutchinson in 1958. She worked in the dietary department at Hutchinson Hospital for 18 years, retiring in 1987.
She belonged to the First Mennonite Church, Hutchinson. Ruth enjoyed traveling on trips, but most of all she liked the Hutchinson Junior College Basketball games. She attended many years of the National Tournaments with relatives, sitting year after year in the same seats. She loved to cook and always treated her family with German recipes. Poppy seed bread was always a holiday treat.
She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Irvin, Paul, Eldon and Walton Stucky; a sister, Frieda Allen; and three nephews, Dennis Stucky, Lael Allen and Wayne Stucky.
She is survived by three nieces, Pat Wiard, Clermont, Fla., Paula Stein, Halstead, and Mary Garcia, Hutchinson; two nephews, Ron Stucky, Hot Springs Village, Ark., and David Stucky, Murdock; and 19 great-nieces and -nephews.
Graveside service will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 25, 2008, in Greenwood Cemetery, Belmont, with Pastor Debbie Schmidt presiding. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday June 24, 2008, at Elliott Mortuary, with the family present from 7 to 8 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the First Mennonite Church, Hospice Care of Kansas or the Good Samaritan Fund at Wesley Towers, all in care of the mortuary.
