Darlene Daines, 79, died June 1, 2015, at Hester Care, Wesley Towers, Hutchinson. She was born July 2, 1935, in Kansas City, Kan., to George Dewey and Maggie Lucille (Barnes) O'Neal.
Darlene was a former member of Bible Baptist Church and attended New Hope Baptist Church. She had worked for Underground Vaults and Storage.
On Feb. 10, 1951, she married Robert "Tom" Daines in Hutchinson. He died Jan. 24, 1983. She later met her companion, Jack Carey. He survives. Other survivors include: daughters, Donna Winslow and husband Wayne, Dixie Bortz and husband Dan, Becky Cain and husband John, all of Hutchinson; son, Brian Daines and wife Angie of Wichita; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; sister, Kathy Sheppard of South Hutchinson. She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Ronnie "R.D." Daines; granddaughter, Jennifer Bortz; and brother, Eddie O'Neal.
Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Monday, June 8, 2015, at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson, with Reverend Chase Hill presiding. Burial will follow in Fairlawn Burial Park, Hutchinson. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. with the family to receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Elliott Mortuary.
