Ruthie Clark Stevens, 56, died Sept. 13, 2009, at Promise Regional Medical Center, Hutchinson.
She was born Sept. 8, 1953, in Tribune, to Oscar and Ruth Hagerman Aytes. She earned an Associate's Degree from Hutchinson JUCO.
She volunteered with many organizations and worked as an intake night person at Bob Johnson's and cooked at New Beginnings. Ruthie belonged to Riverside Baptist Church and taught Sunday school for 30 years.
On Feb. 8, 2001, she married Michael Stevens in Hutchinson. He survives.
Other survivors include: three sons, Jack A. Clark, Elgin, Ill., Adam Stevens, Austin, Texas, Nicolas Stevens, Hutchinson; two daughters, Jeana M. Clark, Lexington, Ky., and Kathryn Stevens, Hutchinson; a sister, Shirley Horn, Moses Lake, Wash.; a grandson; two nieces and a nephew. She was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar Aytes and Ruth Aytes Miller.
Cremation has taken place. Memorial service will be 10 a.m. Friday Sept. 18, 2009, at Elliott Chapel, Hutchinson, with Pastor Richard Haley officiating. Friends may sign the register from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today,
Wednesday and Thursday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson.
