Obituary

Ryan Buhrle, age 98, died Aug. 4, 2013, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. He was born May 7, 1915, in Kiowa County, near Haviland, Kan., the son of Shelton G. and Allie Elnora Ryan Buhrle.

He graduated from Pierceville, Kan. High School in 1933, and farmed for a short time. Later moving to Great Bend, he started working for Nash Finch Wholesale Grocery Co.

He married Chlois V. Pittman April 26, 1942, in Garden City. They moved to Hutchinson in 1962. Ryan retired with Nash Finch in 1978, working as a warehouseman, mechanic and driver. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, United Methodist Men and American Legion Lysle Rishel Post #68.

Survivors: his wife, Chlois of the home; son, Dean and wife Dorothy Buhrle of Bonner Springs, Kan.; daughter, Sandra and her husband David Billeter of Mesa, Ariz.; three grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Edna Kregar and Helen Rundell; and his stepfather, William Deal.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thurs., Aug. 8, 2013, at the First United Methodist Church, 101 E. 1st, with Pastor Jeanine I. Rishel officiating. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. Military honors conducted by the Ft. Riley Honor Guard and burial will follow at Fairlawn Cemetery.
