Obituary

Sammie E. Mosier, 83, Hutchinson, died May 25, 2023, at Hospice House, Hutchinson. He was born October 15, 1939, in Sterling, to Samuel O. and Selma M. (Engbrecht) Mosier.

Sammie was a 1957 graduate of Nickerson High School and 1961 graduate of Sterling College. He taught 6th grade at Nickerson Elementary School for 32 years. After retirement, he was a groundskeeper at The Highlands for several years and a Funeral Assistant at Elliott Mortuary. He attended Union Valley Bible Church where he was active in the music program.

On August 30, 1960, he married Dorothy A. Taylor in Sterling. She survives. Other survivors include: daughter, Elizabeth "Beth" Mosier; brothers, Dwain (Kathryn), Peoria, IL, Rod, Roger (Colleen); and sister-in-law, Carol, all of Hutchinson; brother-in-law, Paul (Pat) Taylor, Lanai City, HI; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; brother, Marlen; and sisters, Roberta Birkey and Lurlene Wagler.

Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, June 2, 2023, at Elliott Mortuary Chapel with Chaplain Lowell Entz presiding. Burial will follow in the Sterling Community Cemetery, Sterling. Friends may call Wednesday and Thursday 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., with the family present Thursday, June 1, 2023, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary.
