Samuel Leighton "Sam" Roots, 49, formerly of Hutchinson, died August 3, 2023, in Grand Junction, CO, with his brother, Matthew, and his best friend, Jules, by his side. He was born November 23, 1973, in Seoul, Korea, and adopted by Roger Leighton and Mary Arnelda (Glass) Roots.

Sam graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1992.  He owned and operated several businesses in Denver, CO.  Sam's pride and joy was his daughter, Sterling.

Sam is survived by:  his little brother, Matthew Roots (Tricia) and his nephew and niece, Riley and Jayden Roots, all of Inman; little sister, Katie Roots of New York, NY; best friend and co-parent, Jules Pitchford; his beautiful daughter, Sterling, both of Grand Junction, CO; aunt, Patricia Peoples; and numerous cousins.

He was preceded in death by:  his parents, Roger and Mary Roots; paternal grandparents, Bill and Mildred Roots; maternal grandparents, Arnold and Alzenith Glass; aunt, Bonnie Fee (Frank) uncle, Frank Peoples; and cousin, Carolyn Fee.

Cremation has taken place.  A Celebration of Life service will be announced at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Samuel Roots Memorial Fund, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS  67501.

We will miss Sam, but are comforted knowing he has finally found peace amidst the struggles he endured during his short life.
