Sara Mae "Sally" Gantz, 94, died March 14, 2015, at Mennonite Friendship Comm-unities, South Hutchinson. She was born Dec. 4, 1920, in Osklaloosa, Iowa, to Michael and Jesse (Brennaman) Griffin.
She graduated Salina High School in 1938. Sally attended Stephens College in Columbia, Mo., and later Kansas State University and was a member of the Kappa Delta Sorority.
She married Chester "Chet" Gantz on Sept. 14, 1941, in Ulysses. He died on July 8, 2014. Survivors include: her daughter, Janice Highness and husband Gene of Shawnee; sons, Gary Gantz and wife Elaine of Oak Harbor, Wash., Michael Gantz and wife Lisa of Cape Girardeau, Mo.; nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Thursday, March 19, 2015, at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery and Mausoleum, Hutchinson, with Reverend Jim Rhaesa presiding. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday, with the family to receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson.
