Sarah Frances Burris, 89, passed away August 15, 2023, at Hospice House, Hutchinson, KS.  She was born February 3, 1934, in Heard County, GA, to Joe W. and Fannie Lou (Folds) Thaxton.

Sarah married John J. Meadows on May 27, 1955, in Arizona.  He passed away on May 20, 1963.  On July 27, 1971, Sarah married Earl V. Burris, Sr. in Hutchinson, KS.  He passed away on August 24, 2014.

Sarah and husband Earl were co-owners of Standard Press, Hutchinson, KS.  She was a registered nurse at Grace Hospital and Hutchinson Hospital, currently Hutchinson Regional Medical Center, retiring in June 1997 with 35 years of service.  After retirement, Sarah volunteered at the American Red Cross.

She is survived by: her children, Mark (June) Meadows of Douglas, KS, John (Diane) Meadows of Yoder, KS, Debbie (David) Trotter of Hutchinson, KS, and Larry (Marcia) Meadows of South Hutchinson, KS; stepchildren, Earl V. Burris, Jr. of Texas, Tom Burris of Nickerson, KS, and Pam Holderness of Springfield, MO; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Sarah was preceded in death by:  her parents; husbands; grandson, Corey Meadows; siblings, Tommy Lou Murphy, Ethel Veal, Ruth Steele, Rebecca Pope, and Joe Thaxton.

Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Saturday, August 19, 2023, at Memorial Park Cemetery, 5905 W. 4th, Hutchinson, KS.  Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday, August 17, 2023, and from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, August 18, 2023, with the family present from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Elliott Mortuary.  The casket will remain closed.
