LYONS – Sarah "Joanne" Mendoza, 73, died April 6, 2016, at Good Samaritan Center, Lyons. She was born April 15, 1942, in Pratt County, to Harvey and Elenora (Steffan) Blackwell. She was of the Catholic faith. Joanne was a housekeeper and caretaker of baby chicks for Cal-Maine Foods from 1997 to 2011.

On July 9, 1993, Sarah married Esteban Steven Mendoza in Hutchinson. He died Sept. 30, 2002.

Survivors include: numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Betty Ebeling.

Parish rosary will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 12, 2016, with a Mass of Christian burial to follow at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, South Hutchinson, with Father Ned J. Blick presiding. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery, Hutchinson. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday and Monday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson.
