Scott M. Briggs, 48, of Hutchinson, died Sept. 13, 2016, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. He was born May 11, 1968, in Hutchinson, to William and Cheryl Briggs.

Scott graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1986 and from Kansas State University with a Bachelor's degree in Kinesiology. Scott enjoyed playing Frisbee golf and had a passion for learning.

On Dec. 23, 2011, he married Bridgette A. Green in Hutchinson. She lives. Other survivors include: son, Michael D. Briggs of Hutchinson; stepdaughter, Kaela M. Fuller; stepson, Ryan M. Fuller, both of Oregon; parents, William and Cheryl Briggs of Hutchinson; brothers, Tod Briggs, Jeremy Briggs and wife Tiffany, all of San Antonio, Texas; grandfather, Virgil Wenzel of Hutchinson; step-grandaughter, Dior T. Fuller of Oregon; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Scott was preceded in death by: his maternal grandmother, Lois Wenzel; paternal grandparents, Verner "Bun" E. and Mary E. Briggs; and brother, Jeff D. Briggs.

Funeral service will be 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 17, 2016, at Elliott Chapel, Hutchinson, with Pastor Victor Halfmoon officiating. Cremation will follow and a private family inurnment will take place at a later date. Friends may call from 1 to 9 p.m. with family to receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Saturday at Elliott Mortuary.
