Obituary

Scott William Rooks, 52, died at his home on November 6, 2024, in Hutchinson, surrounded by family.  He was born August 20, 1972, in Kansas City, MO, to James Gary Rooks and Linda Lee (Davis) Hansen.

Scott graduated from Lees Summit High School in 1990 and Central Missouri State University in 1996 with a Bachelor's Degree in Construction Project Management. He worked for Dillons as the Division Facilities Engineering Manager and then at Hardwood Millwork and Supply in Burrton, KS. On August 8, 2015, he married Dr. Rogena K. Johnson in Wichita, KS. Scott enjoyed woodworking, golfing, traveling, hiking and was in the process of visiting all the US National Parks with his wife. Scott was a very proud United States Army veteran having served 3 tours overseas during his 12 years of service.

Scott is survived by: his wife, Dr. Rogena Johnson, Hutchinson; son, Austin Rooks, Kansas City, MO; daughters, Breeana (John) Wernowsky, Menifee, CA, and Maelyn (Cody) DeFrates, Warrensburg, MO; mother, Linda (Rick) Hansen, Lees Summit, MO; father, James G. Rooks, Warrensburg, MO; brother, Douglas (Hayley) Rooks, San Clemente, CA; uncle, Douglas Rooks, Merriam, KS; aunt, Susie (Ron) Denes, Nashville, TN,  Sharon Wheeler, Dardenne Prairie, MO, and Pam (Al) Sather, Ottawa, IL; mother and father-in-law, Beverly and Roger Johnson, Hutchinson, KS; brother-in-law, Jason Johnson, Hutchinson, KS; and unborn granddaughter, Juniper Revae DeFrates.

The family will greet friends from 12:00 - 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 10, 2024 at the V.F.W. Bob Campbell Post #1361, 328 N. Van Buren, Hutchinson, KS 67501. Friends may sign the book Friday and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary.

Memorials are suggested to the Wounded Warrior Project, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main St. Hutchinson, KS 67501.
