INMAN – Scott David Saunders, 42, surrounded by his loving mother and stepfather, went to join his dad and brother in Heaven on May 26, 2015. Scott lost a many-year battle with OPCA – a debilitating, degenerative neurological disease that also took the life of his dad and brother.
Scott was born June 6, 1972, in Kansas City, Kan., to David and Diane (Moat) Saunders.
In 1990, Scott graduated from Piper High School, Kansas City, Kansas. He participated in a variety of sports, but his passion was drawing. He then went on to graduate in 1994 from the Colorado Institute of Art in Denver, Colo. Scott was employed at Jeppeson-Sanderson Aeronautics Company for 10 years as a Graphic Artist/Designer. Jeppeson designs and produces training manuals and maps for pilots.
Scott was preceded in death by: his father, David; youngest brother, Kent; maternal grandparents, Albert and Edith Moat; paternal grandparents, Bill and Lucille Saunders; uncle, Paul Drum; and two cousins. Scott is survived by: his mother and stepfather, Diane and Hank Janzen; brother, Eric Saunders, all of Hutchinson; stepsister, Jennifer Janzen of Tucson, Ariz.; aunt and uncle, Margaret and Bob Harris of League City, Texas; aunt, Jean Drum of Lenexa; aunt, Linda Sanders; uncle, Larry Saunders, both of Kansas City; and several cousins.
Scott donated his body for research to the University of Kansas School of Medicine. It was his desire that in this way he could help in finding a treatment or a cure that would spare others the heartbreak of this devastating disease.
