Obituary

Scott E. Wilcox, age 50, died peacefully Saturday morning in Oklahoma City after a courageous 12 month struggle with pancreatic cancer. Born near Flint, Michigan, the family moved to Ohio where Scott became an Eagle Scout at age 16. He graduated in 1975 from Austintown Fitch High School and later from Youngstown State University with majors in Accounting and Computer Science.

He worked as a Certified Public Accountant in Pratt, Kansas, before beginning his 20 year career as a financial advisor with New York Life and Eagle Strategies Corporation. He was among the company's top agents nationally for the last 5 years.

United in marriage with Cindy K. Shultz of Arlington, KS, in 1984, the happy couple were blessed with children Lacy (age 19), Foster (17), and Jackson (12). Scott was deeply respected and loved by many he served in business as well as by his Metropolitan Baptist Church family and relatives spread from Michigan and Minnesota to Texas.

He spent leisure time playing racquetball, bow hunting, trout fishing, water skiing, and coaching youth soccer.

He was preceded in death by his father, Foster E. Wilcox of Youngstown in 1980. He is survived by his mother Patricia A. Wilcox of Oklahoma City, his older brother Lee, nine admiring nieces and nephews and his mother-in-law Janice Shultz of Arlington, KS.

Visitation will be at the North Vondel Smith Funeral Home, Oklahoma City, Monday from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, 4:00 p.m., at the Metropolitan Baptist Church. Graveside service will be held on Wed., 12:00 noon at the Arlington Cemetery, Arlington, KS. The family request that memorial gifts be directed to the Metropolitan Baptist Church Mission Fund or to Troop 30 of the Boys Scouts of America, 2716 North Eagle Lane, Oklahoma City, OK 73127, both in care of Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson.
