Soukup

Shanna Mae Soukup, 79, of Hutchinson, died November 14, 2019, at Reflection Living, Hutchinson. She was born March 2, 1940, in Oxford, NE, to Lewis and Delpha (Pittman) Blees.
Shanna was a 1957 graduate of Decatur Community High School, Oberlin, KS. She attended the College of Emporia for three years, where she met her husband, Herbert Soukup. They were married January 24, 1959, in Lyle, KS. After beginning their lives in Hudson, KS, Herbert and Shanna settled in Hutchinson in 1966. They were united in marriage for over 60 years.
Of Shanna's many roles, her most important and cherished was that of a stay at home mother for 10 years. She served 16 years as a secretary at Hutchinson High School and nine years as an administrative assistant and college treasurer at Hutchinson Community College. Shanna was a member of Altrusa International of Hutchinson, Kansas Association of Education Office Professionals, Trinity United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women's organization, and a volunteer for the Hutchinson Regional Medical Center Auxiliary.
Shanna is survived by: husband, Herbert Soukup of Hutchinson; daughters, Pam Kirk of Lawrence, and Jonelle Barrett of McKinney, TX; son, Monte (Molly) Soukup of Lawrence; and grandchildren, Benjamin and Paige Soukup, and Rachel Barrett.
Memorial service will be 10 a.m. Monday, December 9, 2019, at Trinity United Methodist Church, 1602 N. Main, Hutchinson, with The Reverend Dr. Kim Biery officiating. Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Altrusa International Foundation of Hutchinson or Trinity United Methodist Church, Hutchinson, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
Shanna's family would like to thank the families, residents, and staff of Reflection Living for their loving and exceptional care and kindness.
