Sharon Deming died at her Hutchinson home July 31, 2022, following a series of strokes that started in late February.

Sharon was a Registered Nurse who served residents as Director of Nursing and Quality Control at the Buhler Sunshine Home before retirement. She had previously worked at Wesley Towers, Hutchinson Hospital, USD 308/Hutchinson Public Schools and Johnson and Sons Funeral Home.

She was born October 27, 1944, to the late Dr. Marion E. and Dorothy (Purdy) Nunemaker. At an early age Sharon became responsible for helping with her family's younger children because of her mother's illness. It was a trait and practice she reflected throughout her life.

Sharon was preceded in death by: her parents; daughter, Wendy Cox; and grandson, Andrew Cox.

Survivors include: her children, Jill Leslie Muramatsu and Will Leslie, Shannon Guild, Rogers, AR; husband, Dan; sisters, Susan Blocker, Haven, Kathy Nunemaker, Boulder, CO, Mary Young, Wheat Ridge, CO; and a brother, Terry Nunemaker, Wellington.

Also mourning her loss are: much loved grandchildren, Kameko Muramatsu, Dallas, Lindsey Kilbride, Galva, Logan Rumsey, Rogers, AR; and other much loved grandchildren and great-grandchildren in Kansas and Arkansas.

Sharon was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and spent her lifetime helping support and encourage family members, friends and others she found in need. She was a former President of the Hutchinson League of Women Voters and active in programs and causes promoting women and animals. Sharon had volunteered for the Salvation Army, First Call for Help, Hutchinson Animal Shelter along with other activities aimed at benefiting those less fortunate and unable to fully care for themselves. Will Rogers said he never met a man he didn't like. Sharon never met a cat she didn't like with Barney and Sha-Moo among the loving survivors.

One of Sharon's greatest sadness as her health declined was not being able to attend church and worship with others. But she maintained a close personal relationship with Jesus which, in the end, is more important. Life is full of ironies and among the biggest Sharon and her family faced is how seemingly unfair for a person who gave so much of her life assisting and comforting others needed the same help as her life came to a close. Those of us with faith must trust God's plan even when we don't understand and it makes no sense to us.

Special appreciation goes to Jennifer Buell, a veteran hospice aid, who has the ability to form close and meaningful relationships with her patients. Jen's help, which developed into a memorable and lasting friendship, will never be forgotten and is emblematic of the type of care Hospice and HomeCare of Reno County provides daily. The family wants to thank and highly compliment the entire nursing and support staff for their exceptional and loving care. Special appreciation also goes to Jill, Will, Shannon, and Pastor Kim Biery, for helping with round-the-clock care as Sharon's illness progressed.

Sharon chose cremation and her Memorial Service / Celebration of Life will be 10 a.m. Saturday, August 13, 2022, in the Warner Wing at Trinity United Methodist Church, 1602 N. Main, Hutchinson. Please enter using the doors at the northeast corner of the building just off the parking lot. Feel free to wear comfortable/casual clothes.

Friends may sign her memorial book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily through August 13 at Elliott Mortuary.
