Sharon Kay (Pavel) Conklin, 58, died Feb. 28, 2016. She was born June 6, 1957, in Des Moines, Iowa, the daughter of Elmer "Lewis" and Georgia (Kolar) Pavel.
Sharon was a homemaker, substitute teacher, taught floral arranging, and was a member of Emanuel Lutheran Church. She loved painting, floral arranging, traveling, swimming, golfing, and KU basketball. Sharon grew up in Prairie Village and graduated from Bishop Miege High School in 1975, before attending the University of Kansas, where she received her Bachelor's Degree in Business in 1979. She was a member of Alpha Delta Pi Sorority and PEO Chapter CM. Sharon was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend.
On March 3, 1979, she married Stuart Conklin III in Hutchinson. They resided in Hutchinson for the duration of their marriage.
Survivors include: husband, Stuart III of the home; children, Kristin Schroeder and husband Christopher; daughters, Adelaide Kay and Evelyn Grace of Overland Park, Stuart "Bud" Conklin IV and wife Anna of Olathe, Samuel Conklin and fiancee, Celeste Wray of Wichita; brother, Steve Pavel and wife Valerie and their two children of Houston, Texas; and mother-in-law, Mary Ann Conklin of Hutchinson.She was preceded in death by her parents and father-in-law, Stuart "Joe" Conklin,Jr.
Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, March 4, 2016, at Emanuel Lutheran Church, 140 E. 30th Avenue, Hutchinson, with Pastor Tim Carey officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery, Hutchinson. Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday at Elliott Mortuary. The family will receive friends from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Emanuel Lutheran Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Hutchinson Recreation Commission or the YMCA of Hutchinson, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
