Obituary

Sharon Kay Thacker, 72, died September 11, 2026, at Mennonite Friendship Communities in South Hutchinson. She was born August 31, 1954, in Kansas City, Missouri, and was lovingly raised by Harvey D. and Edna M. (Miller) Nisly.

Sharon loved worship music and never went a day without having it playing. She enjoyed crocheting and knitting. She was raised in the Amish Mennonite Community near rural Partridge, Kansas. Her faith and heritage shaped her life and remained an important part of who she was and what she passed on to her family. Volunteering was always a vital part of Sharon’s life, especially cooking for others and visiting those who were homebound. She was an active member of The Father’s House in Hutchinson and cherished the many relationships she built there over the years.

On October 29, 1983, she married Larry Thacker in Vista, California.

Sharon is survived by her husband of nearly 43 years, Larry Thacker; son, William Thacker (Katie), all of Hutchinson; daughter, Jessica Thacker of Dallas, Texas; sister, Emma Nisly of Minnesota; brother, Clayton Nisly (Jennifer) of Abbyville; and grandchildren, Cooper Mooney, Guinevere Thacker, and Harvey Thacker.

She was preceded in death by her parents and grandson, Brody, who died in 2015.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 25, 2026, at Elliott Chapel, with Pastor Quintin Moore of The Father’s House officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in Hutchinson. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, September 24, 2026, with the family present from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to The Father’s House, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
