Obituary

Sheila Ann Fondaw, 81, passed away on February 28, 2025, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center in comfort with the presence of her two children. She was born June 18, 1943, in Hutchinson to Herbert and Linda (Flaming) Bush.

Sheila worked in manufacturing at Hutchinson Bag Corporation and Doskocil before owning and operating The Fondaw 4-Way Bar on Highway 14 and Haven/Arlington Rd. She later spent 17 years as a seamstress at Waggoners Inc. Pew Cushion and Upholstery retiring in 2008.

A woman of many talents, Sheila was a gifted seamstress, crafting everything from suit jackets and pants to Calvin Klein dresses and jeans. She found joy in crocheting creating countless handmade treasures for family and friends.

Sheila loved line dancing at the Delos Smith Senior Center and Elmdale Community Center where she formed lasting friendships. Cooking was another passion.  Her home was always filled with comforting aromas. She took great pride in her swimming pool maintaining it herself until her last summer.  She never tired of a refreshing swim.

Above all, Sheila was a devoted and proud grandmother cherishing every moment with her grandchildren.

On June 18, 1962, she married Glen Fondaw.  Together they shared 49 years of marriage before his death in 2011.

Sheila is survived by her: son, Glen (Zoraida) Fondaw of Wichita; daughter, Tina (L.D.) Peevyhouse of Hutchinson; grandchildren, Alex, Elise, and Jason Fondaw, and Grant (Ashley) Peevyhouse; sister, Sandra Dale; and brother, Herb Bush, Jr. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister Merlene Stewart, and brother Larry Bush.

A dedicated blood donor, she gave over 14 gallons in her lifetime.

In keeping with her generous nature, Sheila donated her body to the University of Kansas Medical School to further medical education and research

A Celebration of Life will be held on April 12, 2025 from 12:00-4:00 pm in Madonna Hall at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 612 S. Maple St., South Hutchinson, Kansas.

Sheila lived a life of kindness, creativity, and loyalty to others. Her warmth and love will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who knew her.
