Sheldon Oren Higgins' Obituary
Sheldon Oren Higgins, 72, died May 21, 2014, at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita. He was born Sept. 24, 1941, the son of Robert and Jan Higgins and Reinnie Harrington Higgins.
He had lived in Hutchinson since 1988, retiring from Jackson's Ice Cream with 12 years of service and was the owner of Truecolor Handyman.
On April 13, 1981, he married Sandra Rae Arbuckle at Gainesville, Texas. She survives.
Other survivors include: sons, Robert and Shelly Smith of Bend, Ore., Bryan and Mary Higgins of Moore, Okla., Curtis Arbuckle of Denver, Colo.; a daughter, Kerri and Jeff Powers of Garden City, Kan.; a sister; two brothers; and six grandchildren; beloved constant companion dog, Dude. He was preceded in death by his parents; a stepmother; and a daughter-in-law, Laura Arbuckle.
By his request cremation will take place and no service to be held in his memory. Memorial gifts may be made to the Hutchinson Animal Shelter or Children's Miracle Network, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
