Shelia G. Doxon, 81, died Aug. 27, 2012, at her home. She was born Aug. 11, 1931, in Hutchinson, to William Houston and Helen America (Crow) Smith.
A graduate of Hutchinson High School, Shelia's first job was a telephone operator at Bell Telephone. Later she was a machinist at Cessna, then a hostess at Village Inn. On June 29, 1953, she married William E. Doxon in Augusta. He died March 3, 2011. A member of Eastwood Church of Christ, Shelia was a Girl Scout Leader and active in the Moose Lodge with her husband.
Survivors include: three children, Gregory A. Doxon and wife Elizabeth of Hutchinson, Kimberly A. Grossardt and husband Wayne of Wichita, and Carrie A. Barker and husband Brent of Hutchinson; three grandchildren, Danielle Fesler of Shawnee, Christopher Grossardt of Lawrence and Dylan Fesler of Hutchinson; brother, Robert E. Smith of Valley Center; sister, Georganna Cook of Texas.
Cremation has taken place. Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 31, 2012, at Eastwoood Church of Christ with Jimie-Wray Mead officiating. Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday at Elliott Mortuary.
