Obituary

Shirley Jean Bass, 91, formerly of Hutchinson, died January 4, 2021, at Bonham Nursing and Rehabilitation, Bonham, TX.  She was born March 23, 1929, in Winona, KS, to Clinton and Alice (Fanning) Thompson.

Shirley was a 1947 graduate of Winona High School.  She worked in customer service at Sears, retiring with over 26 years of service.  Shirley was a longtime member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Hutchinson.

On August 10, 1947, she married John Noble Bass, in Winona.  They shared over 38 years of marriage, prior to his death on November 4, 1985.

Shirley is survived by:  her sons, Clinton (Kathryn) Bass of Trenton, TX, Melvin (Linda) Bass of Hutchinson, and Dan (Melinda) Bass of Burrton; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and two sisters.

She was preceded in death by:  her parents; husband; and two brothers.

Cremation has taken place.  Graveside service will be 1 p.m. Friday, March 26, 2021, at Fairlawn Burial Park, 2401 Carey Boulevard, Hutchinson, with The Reverend Michael Tomson-DeGreeff officiating.  Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, March 22, through Thursday, March 25, at Elliott Mortuary.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Hospice and HomeCare of Reno County, or Cancer Council of Reno County, in care of Elliott Mortuary and Crematory, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
