Shirley Joan Hoyt, 81, died June 12, 2016, at Good Samaritan Society, Hutchinson. She was born Jan. 11, 1935, in Los Angeles, Calif., the daughter of Ernest and Lena (Anderson) Mills.

She graduated from Burden High School and attended Adela Hale Business College. On Aug. 16, 1953, she married Carl D. Hoyt in Honolulu, Hawaii. He preceded her in death in 2008. Shirley retired from Panhandle Eastern Pipeline Co.

She is survived by: son, Jeff of Buhler; daughter, Cindy Ryan of St. John; grandson, Allen Adams of Towanda; great-grandsons, Tyler and Justin of Texas. Shirley was preceded in death by: her parents; a daughter, Judith; two half-sisters; and a half-brother.

Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 15, 2016, at Fairlawn Burial Park, with Pastor Jeanine I. Rishel officiating. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the mortuary. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Gentiva Hospice, First United Methodist Church, or donor's choice, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
