Shirley JoAnn Watson, 84, of Hutchinson, died Wednesday, June 21, 2017, at Via Christi on St. Francis Campus, Wichita. She was born May 9, 1933, in Hutchinson, to Edmon P. and Ruby M. (Scott) Carter.

Shirley graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1951 and attended Hutchinson Community College. She worked as an Avon representative for many years and then for the City of Hutchinson for 24 years, until her retirement. Shirley was a member of New Life Christian Church and loved meeting monthly with her '51 girls.

On July 27, 1953, she married Robert M. 'Bob' Watson in Hutchinson. He died September 5, 2002.

Shirley is survived by: son, Scott Watson (Shelly) of Keller, Texas; daughters, Robie McGowen (Michael) of Lakeview, Oregon, Micki Pina (Enrique) of Hutchinson, Stacy Villucci (Robert) of Nashville, Tennessee; grandchildren, Michael Villucci, Amanda Villucci, Dustin Duarte (Jessica), Trevor McGowen, Caitlin McGowen, Megan McGowen, Taylor Watson, Travis Watson, Ryan McGowen, Sarah McGowen; great-grandchildren, Elijah Villucci, Carter Duarte; sister, Dixie Newell (Wendell) of Newton; brother-in-law, Wes Watson of Abilene; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by: her husband, Robert, of 49 years; grandson, Matthew Villucci; father, Edmon Carter; mother, Ruby Willinger; brother, Dan Rayl; and sisters-in-law, Dee Watson and Marty Rayl.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday, June 29, 2017, at New Life Christian Church, 2930 Hendricks St., Hutchinson, with Pastor John Frey officiating. Burial will follow in Fairlawn Burial Park, Hutchinson. Friends may call from 12 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday, with the family to receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to New Life Christian Church, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
