Shon Dale Garcia Sr., 39, died Feb. 7, 2009, at Indian Meadows Nursing Center, Overland Park.

He was born May 22, 1969 in Los Angeles, Calif. A 1987 graduate of Salina South High School, Salina, he was a former employee of Doskocil.

Shon is survived by: a daughter, Ashley Ojeda, Albuquerque, N.M.; a son, Shon Dale Garcia, Jr., Hutchinson; mother, Mary Marshall, Hutchinson; father, Richard R. Marshall, Sr., Hutchinson; three brothers, Richard R. Marshall, Jr. and wife Ondrea, Joseph Marshall and wife Amy, and Joshua Marshall and fiancée Bethany Shultz, all of Hutchinson; grandparents, Yolanda and Jesse Solis, Pomona, Calif.; grandson, LeShawn Swanson, Albuquerque, N.M.; five nephews and a niece; and girlfriend, Ardie Smith, Hutchinson.

He was preceded in death by grandparents; James and Elsie Marshall, and Joe Garcia. The family would like to extend special thanks of appreciation to Pastor Jesus M. Olivas and the church community of Asamblea Apostolica for their time and prayers.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 12, 2009, at Elliott Mortuary Chapel, Hutchinson, with the Rev. Jesse Pinkston, Jr., of Full Gospel Church, presiding. Burial will be in Eastside Cemetery, Hutchinson. Visitation will be from noon to 9 p.m. Wednesday Feb. 11, 2009, at the mortuary.
