Sondra Jean Sloyer, 75, died Monday, Sept. 3, 2012, in the presence of family.
She was born in Topeka, Kan., May 7, 1937, the daughter of Eugene and Beulah Ransom Battey.
She was a 1955 graduate of Topeka High School, a member of Park Place Christian Church, Disciples of Christ, had worked for USD #308, was the owner of Papa's Popcorn, co-owned and operated Ben Franklin Crafts and Frank's Frame Shop and for 35 years they operated Sloyer Concessions at the Kansas State Fair.
On Nov. 27, 1955, she married Frank Sloyer in Topeka. Other survivors include: their children, Phil of Spokane, Wash., Scott of Wildwood, Mo., Karen Pennington of Wichita, George of Wichita; a foster daughter, Tina Sugden of Wichita; a sister, Phyllis Schaper of Topeka; 16 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 7, 2012, at Park Place Christian Church, 2600 N. Adams, Hutchinson, with Rev. Dr. Kim Biery officiating. Burial will be in Fairlawn Burial Park. Visitation will be 5 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday with family present 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson.
