Obituary

Stacy Lynn Devena, 91, died Jan. 3, 2015, at Haven House. He was born Oct. 27, 1923, near Weir, the son of J.P. and Grace (Scott) Devena.

He was baptized in the Victory Baptist Church, Hutchinson, and was a World War II Army veteran serving in the Asiatic Pacific Theater with the Cannon Troop 12th Calvary. Lynn worked for Package Corporation of America, retiring as dock foreman in 1984 with 35 years of service.

On July 28, 1947, he married Virginia Lee Sizemore in Columbus. She died Nov. 27, 2012. He is survived by: his children and their spouses, Daniel (Iris) of Hutchinson, James of Agra, Laura (Bill) Simmons of Choctaw, Okla.; five granddaughters; 14 great-grandchildren; and a great great-granddaughter. He was preceded in death by a son, Monty Joe; a daughter-in-law, Janet Devena; four brothers and six sisters.

Funeral service will be 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2015, at Elliott Chapel, Hutchinson, with Pastor Eldon Smith presiding. Burial will be 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 8, 2015, at New Pleasantview Cemetery, Weir. His register book will be available to sign from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday and from 9 a.m. until service time Wednesday at Elliott Mortuary.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Reno County Veterans Memorial, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
