Obituary

Stanley M. Julian, 80, passed away on Feb. 8, 2015, at his home in South Hutchinson. He was born April 5, 1934, on a farm near Byers, Kan., to Floyd and Elta (Tompkins) Julian.

Following high school, Stanley served two years in the U.S. Army, then returned to Kansas and worked at Flints Garage in Pratt where he met Maxine Logan. After marrying on Aug. 5, 1958, in Pratt, they moved to Hutchinson where he owned and operated a service station.

He went on to work for the US Postal Service. During that time he also owned and operated Stan's Painting Service and Julian Rentals. He retired from the Postal Service in 1992, and became involved with the Pro-life Ministry and is responsible for many of the Pro-life signs posted in the Hutchinson area. In his spare time Stanley raised a productive vegetable garden and loved camping, hiking and biking with his family.

He will be remembered, by anyone fortunate enough to know him, as a generous and caring person always willing to provide a helping hand, be it financial support, an able body, a kind word or an ear to listen.

Survivors include: his wife, Maxine; his son, Mike Julian (wife, Jeanne Ward), Inman; daughters, Teresa Patterson (husband, Mike), Hutchinson, Sheila Brady (husband, Steve), Hutchinson, and Angela Julian (husband, Joe Jensen), Austin, Texas; his siblings, Marvin Julian, Janet Ferguson, and Carol Berry; eight grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Dwight and Doral Julian, and a granddaughter, Kelsie Michelle Julian.
His life will be celebrated at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in South Hutchinson on Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2015. Rosary will be at 10:30 a.m. followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. with Father Ned Blick officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Monday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. Burial will be in Sylvia Cemetery, Sylvia.

In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial gifts may be made to Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, Kansans for Life, or Hospice and Homecare of Reno County, all in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 North Main, Hutchinson, KS, 67501.
