Mrs. Stella Damon, 94, of Hutchinson, KS, while surrounded by her loving family, entered into the presence of the Lord on November 6, 2009, joining her husband, E.W. Damon, and many other loved ones who preceded her.
She was born July 7, 1915, to the late Levi Alexander and Olive (Taylor) Alexander who farmed in the Sedalia, Missouri, area.
Stella enjoyed working on the farm and expressed some of her happiest memories were when she and her husband purchased a farm in Cowgill, MO., and as active members of the Cowgill Methodist Church, they worked together in perfect devotion to Jesus Christ their Lord and to their community.
Stella is survived by her five children: three sons, Ed Wood and wife Kathy, of Ogallala NE, Larry Wood, of Denton NE, and Dan Wood, of S. Hutchinson, KS, and two daughters, Sondra Wood and Dana Robinson, both of Hutchinson, KS. She was also blessed with 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren who lovingly called her Gram.
In addition to her parents and husband, also preceding her in death was her eldest daughter, Wanda Ann Wood, her first husband, Edward M. Wood, and her two younger brothers, Lloyd and Leland Alexander.
Memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, November 11, 2009, at Countryside Baptist Church, Hutchinson, with Chaplain Bob Phipps presiding. Graveside service will follow in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery and Mausoleum, Hutchinson. Visitation with family present will be from 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, November 10, 2009, at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson.
