Obituary

Steven L. Bond, 62, died Sept. 5, 2007, at the University of Missouri Hospital, Columbia, Mo., from complications from an automobile accident.

He was born Aug. 21, 1945, in Hutchinson, the son of Franklin and Margaret Stehle Bond. He graduated in 1963 from Nickerson High School, and in 1965 from the vocational college at Kansas State College, Pittsburg. A lifetime Hutchinson resident, he retired in 2006 from Cessna/Eaton after 40 years as a machinist.

He belonged to Tenth Avenue United Methodist Church, Mid-State Street Rods, Inc., Machinists Union Local Lodge No. 1992, and the National Street Rod Association.

On Nov. 22, 1968, he married Sally E. Andereck in Hutchinson. She survives.

Other survivors include: a son, Jeff, Fort Worth, Texas; a brother, Charles, Saucier, Miss.; and a sister, Glenda Bayles, McPherson.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Elliott Chapel, Hutchinson, with Pastor Alan D. Stambaugh presiding. Friends may sign the register from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. The family will greet friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the mortuary. Burial will be in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery and Mausoleum.

Memorials may be sent to the Tenth Avenue United Methodist Church, Mid-State Street Rods Inc., or the Hutchinson Public Library, all in care of the funeral home.
