Steven James "Chives" Fairbanks, 61, died Aug. 3, 2013, at Hospice House, Hutchinson. He was born June 25, 1952, in Hutchinson, the son of Philip H. and Teresa K. (Panetta) Fairbanks.
He graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1971. Steven recently retired from the City of Hutchinson.
Survivors include: father, Philip H. Fairbanks and wife Rita of South Hutchinson; mother, Teresa Henson of Hutchinson; sister, Deborah Franz and husband Bill of Maize; brother, Philip M. Fairbanks of South Hutchinson; his beloved cat, Harley Minnow; two nieces and three nephews; five great-nieces and 13 great-nephews; and numerous friends that were like family. He was preceded in death by his grandparents; Ivan and Violet Fairbanks and James and Immaculata Panetta.
Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 7, 2013, at Elliott Chapel, Hutchinson, with Pastor Tim Adrian presiding. Burial will follow in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery and Mausoleum, Hutchinson. Friends may call from 5 to 9 p.m. Monday and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday, with family to receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson.
