March 4, 1964 – February 25, 2022
Steven Wayne Owens, 57, of Hutchinson, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on February 25, 2022, at his home, surrounded by his family. He was born March 4, 1964, in Albuquerque, NM, to William L. and Peggy D. (Alexander) Owens.
Steve graduated from Lyons High School in 1982 and attended Hutchinson Community College. He worked as a truck driver for Groendyke and JACAM for many years. Steve loved watching and playing sports of all kinds and was a diehard OU Sooners fan. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Steve was of the Christian faith and had a strong relationship with Jesus.
On May 26, 1984, he married his high school sweetheart, Sandra D. Simms, in Lyons. She survives.
Also surviving are: his parents, Bill and Peggy Owens of Burrton; children, Brian Owens of Wichita, Tarah Bartlett (Tim) of Fort Worth, TX, Danny Owens (Jenna) of Hutchinson; siblings, William "Billy" Owens Jr. (Susan) of Adamsville, TN, Martin Owens (Dianne) of Riverside, CA, Christell Pinkston (Arlie) of Hutchinson, Jarrett Owens of Ottawa, KS, April Owens (Jeffrey Guerrero) of Hutchinson, Kurt Owens (Jenny) of Belle Plaine, MN; grandchildren, Brian Owens II, Teagan Bartlett, Tatum Bartlett, Olivia Owens, Bennett Owens; and numerous extended family members.
A celebration of Steve's life will be held 10 a.m. Friday, March 4, 2022, in Elliott Chapel. Burial will follow in Fairlawn Burial Park. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, with family present to receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Elliott Mortuary.
