Steven L. Warkentin, 59, passed away on Dec. 13, 2014, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center, Hutchinson. He was born June 21, 1955, to Darwin and Betty (Wiens) Warkentin in Hutchinson. Steven graduated from Buhler High School in 1973. In 1975, he started being a plumber for Hendrickson Plumbing in 2001, he purchased the business.

On June 23, 1991, he married Valerie Burkhart in Hutchinson. He never knew a stranger, loved anything outdoors, and cooking for his family and friends.

He is survived by: his wife of 23 years, Valerie Warkentin of Hutchinson; stepson, Jason (Susan) Booker of Olathe, Kan.; sons, Michael (Yvonne) Warkentin, and Christopher (Courtnie) Warkentin, both of Hutchinson; parents, Darwin and Betty Warkentin of Hutchinson; sisters, Sandy Worthy of Marana, Ariz., and Teresa (Joe) England, of Hutchinson; grandchildren, Ava Booker of Olathe, Kan., Payton, Sydney, Bailey, Gage, and Journie Le Warkentin, all of Hutchinson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Albert and Thelma Warkentin, and Henry and Katie Wiens.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2014, at Mitchell United Methodist Chapel, 5512 North Pennington, Hutchinson, with Teresa Wynn presiding. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2014, with family present from 6 to 8 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. Burial will be in Mitchell United Methodist Chapel Cemetery,
Hutchinson.
