Sylvia Rose Lopez, age 10, passed away peacefully on September 9, 2026, in Hutchinson, Kansas. She was born on July 31, 2016, in Abilene, Kansas, and lived in Manhattan, Kansas.
Sylvia was a beautiful, loving, and resilient little girl whose life touched so many people. Although she was wheelchair bound, Sylvia never let the challenges she faced define who she was. She had a strength that was far beyond her years and a spirit that brought love and happiness to everyone around her. Her mama, Sierra Lopez, made sure Sylvia was always cared for, loved, and supported. Sierra advocated for her daughter and made sure every one of Sylvia’s needs was heard and met. Their bond was incredibly special, and Sylvia was surrounded by her mama’s unwavering love throughout her life.
Sylvia was loved by so many family members and close friends. She is survived by her mother, Sierra Lopez; grandmothers, Barb Milleson and Sandra Skytte; grandfathers, Mike Milleson and John Skytte; aunts, Nicole Peterson, Hailey Pasilas, and Jasmine Lee; uncles, Ricky Peterson, Michael Lee, and Jerry Price; cousins, Terry Cooley, Michael Major, and Noah Peterson; and her mama’s partner, Casey Lindenberger, who was also part of the family who loved and cared for Sylvia. She is also survived by Casey’s mother, Vicki Lindenberger; his father, Mark Lindenberger, and his wife, Sonya Lindenberger; Casey’s sister, Jessica Stucky, and her husband, Tracey Dean; Casey’s brother, Cody Lindenberger, and his wife, Shanna Todd; and Casey’s grandfather, Ray Rose.
She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Sharon House, and grandfathers, Don Fitzgerald and John Peterson.
Sylvia found joy in the things she loved most. She especially loved watching *Bear in the Big Blue House*, and every time she watched Bear, she would laugh and smile. She loved having books read to her and listening to all of the Disney songs. These simple moments brought her so much happiness and created memories that will be treasured forever.
Sylvia also shared a very special friendship with her best friend, Brooklynn Lee. They celebrated their birthdays together and shared precious memories that will always hold a special place in the hearts of those who loved them.
Sylvia had a beautiful way of making people feel loved. Her smile could brighten a room, and her laughter brought happiness to those around her. She was a little girl who gave love freely and was deeply loved in return. Her resilience, sweetness, and loving heart will never be forgotten. Sylvia’s life was far too short, but the love she gave to everyone will live on forever. We hope everyone remembers her for her beautiful smile, her laughter, her strength, and most of all, the love she had for everyone. Though she is no longer with us, the memories she created and the love she shared will remain in the hearts of her family and friends forever.
A celebration of Sylvia’s life will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 15, 2026, at Elliott Chapel, with Pastor Linda Mohr officiating. The casket will be open and the family will greet friends from 1:00-2:00 p.m. prior to the service.
