Ted Flickinger, 84, of Hutchinson, died July 24, 2017, at Hester Care Center, Hutchinson. He was born March 22, 1933, in Pretty Prairie, to Amos and Ida (Graber) Flickinger.
He graduated from Pretty Prairie High School in 1951 and attended Hutchinson Community College. While at Hutchinson Community College, he played quarterback for the football team and also played on the basketball team. Ted worked for over 20 years in multiple departments at Jackson Ice Cream, retiring as a salesman. He enjoyed fishing and golfing and was a member of First United Methodist Church. Ted served in the United States Army from 1953 to 1955.
On May 31, 1953, he married GeorgeAnn Harney at First United Methodist Church in Hutchinson. They shared 64 years of marriage. She survives.
Ted is also survived by: daughters, Sherry McCain (Kim) of Seibert, Colorado, Brenda Meagher (Gary) of Hutchinson; brothers, Melvin of South Hutchinson; Calvin (Sid) of Glendale, Arizona, Chet of Aurora, Colorado; grandchildren, Jason McCain of Seibert, Colorado, Tad Meagher (Haylee) of Bella Vista, Arkansas, Bret Meagher of Bentonville, Arkansas, Abby Pipkin (Neil) of Topeka and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by: his parents; brothers, Homer, Virgil, and Elmer; sister, Mary Ann Bonebrake; and grandson, Luke McCain.
Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 29, 2017, at First United Methodist Church, 101 E. 1st Avenue, Hutchinson, with the Reverend Jeff Slater officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery, Hutchinson with military honors conducted by Fort Riley Honor Guard. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, with the family to receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary.
