Obituary

Teddy J. "Ted" Carlton, 86, died April 4, 2016, at his home. He was born Nov. 14, 1929, in Jewell, to James R. and Ruby P. (Roberts) Carlton. Teddy served in the United States Army for two years. He was quite the handyman and enjoyed helping other people. He loved western movies, especially Gunsmoke. Teddy retired from Cessna-Eaton Corporation.

On Feb. 16, 1973, he married Shirley Franz in Hutchinson. They celebrated 43 years of marriage.
Teddy is survived by: wife, Shirley of the home; daughter, Sheila Persinger of Bellville; son, Robert Cruz and wife Karla; daughters of his heart, Rhoda Kretzer, and Debbie Trotter, all of Hutchinson; son of his heart, Scott Jones of South Hutchinson; brothers, Marion Carlton of Henrietta, Texas, Gene Carlton of Beloit; sister, Dora Maiz of Ellsworth; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; seven siblings; two sons, Byron and Randy Carlton; and daughter, Pam Persinger.

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Friday, April 8, 2016, at Elliott Chapel, Hutchinson, with Reverend Melvin C. Walton officiating. Burial will follow in Fairlawn Burial Park, Hutchinson. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday at Elliott Mortuary. Memorials may be made to Muscular Dystrophy Association, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
