Obituary

Thelma G. Bright, 90, died April 24, 2008, at the Hutchinson Hospital. She was born July 8, 1917, in Oklahoma County, Okla., the daughter of Dewitt and Evelina Stewart.

She was a homemaker and belonged to the A.M.E. Methodist Church. She was a member of Order of the Eastern Star and Reno County Extension Home Unit.

On March 9, 1936, she married John Nelson Bright in Kingfisher, Okla. He died Dec. 20, 1982.

Survivors include: son, John W. Bright and wife Louise, Hutchinson; daughters, Vivian M. Lowe, Hutchinson, Lois F. Nelson, Hutchinson; sisters, Pearl Hardimon, Oklahoma City; eight grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, sisters, Alice Allen and Bessie Chandler, brother, Earl J. Stewart, and grandson, Terry Allen.

Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Elliott Chapel. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Elliott Chapel, with family present to receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the chapel. Burial will be in Fairlawn Burial Park. Memorials may be sent to American Red Cross or Salvation Army. Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson, is in charge of arrangements.
