Obituary

SOUTH HUTCHINSON - Thelma Leonette Brown, 100, died April 9, 2007, at Mennonite Manor, South Hutchinson.

She was born March 24, 1907, in Lenora, the daughter of Porter Lee and Nellie Margaret Hoyt Breeden. She was a graduate of Lenora High School. A resident of Reno County since 1926, she was a homemaker and bookkeeper for Brown Produce for 23 years.

She belonged to Free Methodist. She was a former PTA Council president and sang with the Reno County Choral Society's Messiah for 20 years.

On Sept. 18, 1926, she married Elvin Russell Brown in Hutchinson. He died in July of 1980.

Survivors include: a son, Loren, Hutchinson; daughter-in-law, Kathy Brown; and a granddaughter, Shannon Brown; both of West Des Moines, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by a son, Duane A.; two brothers, Melvin and Francis Breeden; and two sistes, Floy Hopkins and Mae Brown.

Graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery and Mausoleum, Hutchinson, with Chaplin Randall Turner presiding. Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. The casket will be closed.
