Obituary

Thelma B. Forwalder, 97, died Jan. 18, 2008, at Mennonite Manor, South Hutchinson.

She was born Dec. 22, 1910, in rural Pratt, the daughter of Nathan O. and Mary Jane Redfern Jones. She graduated from Liberal High School, and attended Wichita Business College. A longtime resident of Hutchinson, formerly of Wichita and Sterling, moving to Mennonite Manor in 1995, she was a retired secretary for Columbian Securities of Wichita, was a volunteer secretary for her church, and secretary for Sterling Savings and Loan, and the Savings and Loan of Pratt.

She belonged to the Sterling United Methodist Church, P.C. Club, Sterling, R.S.V.P. and the Women's Auxiliary at Hutchinson Hospital.

On Feb. 3, 1943, she married Forest G. Forwalder in Sterling. He died April 1, 1982.

Survivors include: two sons, Richard F., Andover, and James B., Bonner Springs; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a nephew; and a niece.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Wilbur Jones and a sister, Betty Mezger.

Graveside service will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in Sterling Community Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday and from 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson.
