Thelma Lucille Hilst, 87, died July 22, 2006, at her home, Hutchinson.
She was born May 17, 1919 in Meade, the daughter of George and Mary Elizabeth Cordes Borger. She graduated from business school. A 49 year resident of Hutchinson, moving from Meade in 1957, she was a homemaker.
She belonged to Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, operated the Luteran Large Print Sight Saving Center at Christ Lutheran Church for more than 20 years in Hutchinson, served on numerous committees at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, and was a volunteer for the American Red Cross Blood Mobile.
On Dec. 21, 1941, she married Harold Ernest Hilst in Meade. He died Feb. 13, 1981.
Survivors include: three sons, Rusty, Hutchinson, Rick and wife Joanne, Huntsville, Ala. and Kent and wife Debbie Hutchinson; five daughters, Vivian Donnelley and husband Strachan, New York City, N.Y., Sandra Linley and husband Mike, Richardson, Texas, Sheila Soleimani and husband Massoud and Rhonda Kimball and husband Robert, all of Olathe, and Pam Burzinski and husband Robert, Parsons; a brother, John Borger, Meade; 22 Grandchildren, Inanna Donnelley Taback, Naomi Donnelley Butler, Aidan Donnelley Rowley, Ceara Donnelley, Tegan Donnelley, Cori Linley, Ali Soleimani, Shandy Soleimani, Lada Soleimani, Lindsay Kimball, Alan Kimball, Jessica Hilst, Andy Hilst, Thad Burzinski, Tony Bruzinski, Trent Burzinski, Ty Burzinski, Tim, Burzinski, Brenna Burzinski, Keaton Hilst, Kalen Hilst and Kinsley Hilst; and six great grandchildren, Macintyre Taback, Jasper Taback, Mairead Burzinski Skylar Burzinski, Eli Burzinski and Cammie Wheeler.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Anna Robertson Graham.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Thomas B. Mendenhall presiding. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Monday and from 9 a.m. to noon Tuesday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
