Obituary

SOUTH HUTCHINSON - Thelma Meleese Lingerfelt, 91, died June 3, 2007, at Mennonite Manor, South Hutchinson.

She was born Aug. 17, 1915, in Foss, Okla., the daughter of William Tinley and Arka Geneva Crabb Carpenter. She was a Hutchinson, Reno County, resident since 1932. She graduated from Foss High School, Foss, Okla., then attended Hutchinson Community College. She was a retired 19-year distribution clerk for the Reno County treasurer.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church.

On May 27, 1937, she married Harlen Francis Lingerfelt in Newton. He survives.

Other survivors include: one son, Larry and his wife, Mary, Moorpark, Calif.; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Donald Carpenter; and two sisters, Georgia Phillips and Geneva Green.

Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Elliott Chapel with Pastor Gerald Salmans presiding. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Elliott Mortuary. Burial will be in Fairlawn Burial Park.

Memorials may be sent to First Baptist Church or Hospice Care of Kansas, both in care of the funeral home.
