Thelma Alene Moody, 87, died Oct. 11, 2015, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center, Hutchinson. She was born Aug. 13, 1928, to August Leroy and Alice (Goodenough) Barrington in Hutchinson.
On June 1, 1947, Thelma Barrington married the love of her life, Ray Moody, in Hutchinson, after he returned from World War II. He died Aug. 25, 2013.
Thelma enjoyed a full life centered around her family. The family worked and played together. Over the years she enjoyed boating, motorcycle riding, traveling by car, RV, motorcycle, and gardening. Thelma and Ray enjoyed overseas travel tours. Thelma retired from Hutchinson Hospital as the accounting manager. She also worked at Washburn Meat Packing Plant, HUB Cafeteria, and Kingman/Reno County Mental Health Care. Thelma was active in Victory in the Valley, Altrusa, HOG (Harley's Owner Group), Windy Acres Motorcycle Club and volunteered for Chalmers Cancer Treatment Center.
Thelma will be missed by her family: daughter, Martha Yoder and husband Jay of Marshall, Mo.; son, John Moody and wife Christina of Buhler; granddaughters, Sheila Wogomon and husband Scott of Tonganoxie, Melissa Spencer and husband Kendall of Springdale, Ark.; grandsons, Jeff Moody and wife Laurie of Wichita, Craig Moody and wife Marie of Hutchinson, Brandon LeGron and wife Audra of Hutchinson, Austin LeGron and wife Diana of McPherson; sister, Velma Wells and husband Glen, Raleigh, N.C.; brother, Leland Barrington and wife Geneva of San Marcos, Texas; 14 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Thelma was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Leonard Barrington.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 15, 2015, at Elliott Chapel, Hutchinson, with Alan Barrington officiating. Burial will be in Fairlawn Burial Park. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday, with the family to receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson.
