Thelma E. Thode-Groth, 98, died Jan. 14, 2007, at Thorne Care Center, Hutchinson.
She was born Oct. 26, 1908, in rural Sterling, the daughter of Edward Foraker and Anna Barbara Royer Drake. In 1926, she graduated from Reno County High School, Nickerson. A resident of Hutchinson, she was a farm housewife.
She was a former member of Saxman Presbyterian Church.
On Jan 11, 1929, she married Albert Daniel "Danny" Thode in Anthony. He died July 21, 1950. On July 27, 1952, she married George Frederick Groth at Huntsville Church, Plevna He died Feb. 12, 1989.
Survivors include: three sons and their wives, Ralph and Muriel Thode, South Hutchinson, Larry and Letha Thode, Hutchinson, and Edward and Marlene Thode, Hutchinson; daughter-in-law, Marie Thode, Hutchinson; two stepdaughters, Jenese Groth, and Marceline and Bill Pennington, all of Lufkin, Texas; a sister-in-law, Nellye Drake, Hutchinson; 15 grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Estel, three brothers, Vernon, Johnny, and Norlis Drake, and a stepson, Gordon Groth.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Evans Chapel, Wesley Towers, Hutchinson, with the Rev. Robert B. Brooks presiding. Visitation is from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. Wednesday, with family to receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. Burial will be in Sterling Community Cemetery.
