Thomas Guy Beal, 68, died Aug. 5, 2015, at his home in Hutchinson. He was born Sept. 27, 1946, in Hutchinson, to Robert and Joanne (Swanson) Beal.
He was an elementary school teacher in the Haven School District, teaching the 4th, 5th, and 6th grades for many years. Thomas was a member of Kappa Sigma, Wichita Model Railroaders, Kansas Central Model Railroad Club, AQHA, Reno County Quarter Horse Association, and the former president of Farm Bureau.
On June 3, 1972, he married Julie Lee Smith in Hutchinson. She survives. Other survivors include: son, Brian Beal; daughter, Amy Hirst and husband Aaron; both of Hutchinson; grandchildren, Mitchell, Mabel, Mallory, and Makenzie; sister-in-law, Jean Beal of Haven; brother-in-law, David Smith and wife Kathy of Fox Island, Wash.; nephews, Jason Beal of Venice, Fla., and Josh Beal of Seattle, Wash. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Michael Beal.
Cremation has taken place. Memorial service will be 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 9, 2015, at Grace Episcopal Church, Hutchinson, with The Reverend Georgia Decker presiding. Inurnment will take place at a later date. Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday and from 9 a.m. to noon Sunday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson.
