Thomas 'Tom' Carl Deines, 79, of Hutchinson, died July 22, 2020, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. He was born September 29, 1940, in Hays, to Ruben and Lorrayne (Kobler) Deines.
Tom was a 1958 graduate of Trego Community High School and served nine years in the United States Navy. He retired as a letter carrier from the United States Postal Service and then retired from Arconic Aerospace in 2019.
Tom enjoyed tinkering in his shop and taking care of his lawn. He loved horses and retired as a horse farrier. Tom's greatest love and most rewarding job, however, was being a husband, father and grandfather.
On August 10, 1985, Tom married the love of his life, Susie K. Lear, in Hutchinson. They shared over thirty-four years of marriage.
He is survived by: his wife, Susie Deines of Hutchinson; son, Troy (Kyla) Gaston of Point Clear, AL; daughters, Stacy (Chris) Cahoon of Stanton, ND, and Tammy (Ross) Clouston of Meriden; daughter-in-law, Bonnie Deines of Hutchinson; grandchildren, Rane, Ros, Tegan, Kenzie, Caysen and Carley; sisters, Karla Johnson of Manhattan, and Leslie (Kevin) Owen of Camdenton, MO; and numerous, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Tom was preceded in death by: his parents, Ruben and Lorrayne Deines; son, Tim Deines; brother, Alan Deines; and brother-in-law, Leary Johnson.
Cremation has taken place. Celebration of Life gathering will be from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday, July 29, 2020, at his residence.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the American Legion Lysle Rishel Post #68, Hutchinson, in care of Elliott Mortuary and Crematory, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
