Obituary

Thomas N. "Tom" Johnson, 87, died June 19, 2006, at Hutchinson Hospital, Hutchinson.

He was born May 29, 1919, in Henryetta, Okla., the son of Albert Wesley and Bessie Millicent Hall Johnson. He graduated from Iola High School in 1937 and from Kansas State University in 1957. A resident of Hutchinson since 1961, he was a cost estimator for English Construction, Architectural Millwork and Unruh Construction.

He belonged to Park Place Christian Church, was a member of Boys Scout of America, Troop No. 321, Veteran of Foreign Wars, Bob Campbell Post No. 1361, American Legion, Lysle Rishel Post No. 68, American Institute of Architects and Independent Order of Odd Fellow, Reno Lodge No. 99. He was a U.S. Navy veteran.

On June 3, 1940, he married Wilma C. Heldebrant in Iola. She survives.

Other survivors include: their children, Kay Southards and husband, Ron, South Hutchinson, and Jay Johnson and wife, Tammy, Hutchinson; granddaughter, Chanin Aumiller and husband, David; and great-grandchildren, Dallas and Chiann Aumiller.

He was preceded in death by a brother, John Wilson Johnson.

Graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Eastside Cemetery, Hutchinson, with Pastor Kim Biery presiding. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson.
