OVERLAND PARK - Thomas Joseph Rome, 47, died Feb. 28, 2011, at Shawnee Mission Medical Center, Shawnee Mission.

He was born Oct. 10, 1963, in Hutchinson, to Richard Joseph and Marianne Elisabeth Grauers Rome.

He was a 1982 graduate from Trinity Catholic High School, and a 1986 graduate from the University of Kansas. He was a Real Estate Salesman. He was a member of KU Alumni Association.

Survivors include: a son, Zachary J. Rome, Overland Park; a stepchild, Amy Nash, Kansas City; his father, Richard J. Rome, Hutchinson; a brother, John A. Rome, Berlin, Germany; a sister, Christina E. Edwards and husband Matt, Leawood; his companion, Cindy Jakul of the home; his aunt, Norma Jean Schaffer, Topeka; and nephews and cousins, Andrew A. Rome and Kerstin E. Rome, Berlin, Germany, Lauren E., Mason M. and Evan J. Edwards, Leawood.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Marianne E.Rome.

Parish Rosary will be 7 p.m. today at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Hutchinson. Funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Friday, March 4, 2011, at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Hutchinson, with Father Joseph Eckberg officiating. Cremation will follow. Inurnment of cremains will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 5, 2011, in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Topeka, with Father Jon Hullinger presiding. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. today at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson.
