Obituary

Thomas John "Tom" McGraw, 88, of Hutchinson, died Oct. 6, 2012, at Dillon Living Center. Tom was born Sept. 8, 1924, in Newton, Kan., to Benedict and Cecile Utterback McGraw.

He graduated from Newton High School in May of 1943, served in the Army Air Corps from June of 1943 to Oct. of 1945. He attended the University of Kansas and graduated from the University of Wichita in 1953. He was employed by The Garden City Telegram from 1953-1955 and The Hutchinson News from 1955-1988.

Tom married Clarice Cooper Jan. 20, 1952. She survives. Other survivors include: four children, Marcia Rohrer (John), Joseph, Rob (Annette), and Molly Soukup (Monte); six grandchildren and a great-granddaughter; a sister, Nancy Kuehnle; four nephews and three nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Margaret and Julia.

Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 15, 2012, at Grace Episcopal Church, with The Rt. Reverend Michael P. Milliken presiding. A private family inurnment will be in the church garden columbarium. A registry may be signed from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday thru Sunday at Elliott Mortuary. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Grace Episcopal Church or the HCC Jazz Program, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
